Electronic Media Center

The Electronic Media Department (EMD) handles projects involving radio, TV, film, video and computers.

For radio, EMD produced Panginorin (Horizon), a daily inspirational radio drama series that was rated no. 1 in its time slot nationwide. A later production was Isang Dipa… Langit (Heaven Within Reach). This became CFA’s longest-running radio drama series. Many other radio dramas followed.

For TV, EMD created Batang Pinoy (Filipino Child), a children’s show featuring live performers and puppets, with accent on social and cultural values. Then there were documentaries that captured historic moments in the Philippines in the ’80s: 11 Days in August (on the assassination and funeral of Ninoy Aquino) and People Power: The Philippine Experience – a video documentary about the popular uprising that overturned a dictatorship in 1986.

Currently, CFA is producing Gospel Komiks TV Series, as well as documentaries on poverty, voters’ education, and environmental protection.

CFA’s first major movie venture, Batingaw (The Bells of San Jose), won a FAMAS Award and an Asian Film Festival Award. Another production was Sugat sa Ugat (The Wounded Root), a 1984 movie about the conflict between tradition and modernization in a rural town.

EMD has the essential facilities for digital audio recording, digital video production and editing. It produces audio and video programs and interactive CD materials. It also offers production services to schools, as well as to church and development groups.
