Believe In Jesus
27 March 2010
Today’s Readings: Ez 37:21-28/Jn 11:45-57
REFLECTION
Jesus no longer walks about in public among the Jews because they want to kill him. They think that Jesus is a Jewish leader. It is perhaps best to remember that Jesus himself is a Jew. Some believe in Jesus, others come to faith and then turn away again. Generally, the expression is a personification of those who refuse to accept the salvation offered by Christ. Opposed to God they set themselves up as opposing power, They actively oppose Jesus, fail to understand him and seek his death. But though they are hostile to Jesus the Lord is not hostile to them. The Jews did not want to receive Jesus and his mission.
Today’s Gospel teaches us the value of accepting and believing the one whom the Father has sent- his Son Jesus. As brothers and sisters of Christ we are challenged to share in the mission to make the love of the Father known and experienced by all. Our own weaknesses and limitations cannot hinder nor stop us from doing what pleases the Father.
PRAYER
Loving Father, teach me to accept Jesus as your Son, sent to me as expression of your love. Let me receive him with open heart and mind. Make me sincere in responding to your call to share in the mission of your Son. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
