REFLECTION
The Gospel presents vivid scenes of sufferings and seemingly endless hours of agonies before death. Jesus suffered betrayal and abandonment by friends, he suffered mockery humiliation and injustice. But Jesus was always ready to forgive like what he did to Peter and to accept a sinner like what he did to Peter and to accept a sinner like what he did to the thief whom he won by his love. To someone like Pilate who had not the courage to rise above personal ambition and weakness. Jesus had pity compassion. The Lord heart was large enough to embrace even those who manipulated things to ensure his execution.
Jesus bore everything and perfectly accomplished his mission because he wanted all people to be saved, his great love and his great faith in his father strengthen him and kept him alive. Let us learn from Jesus who lived his teachings. Let us imitate Jesus’ deeds and be guided by his words. From beginning to the end of his life, Jesus became true to what he was – love.
PRAYER
Loving Father, be with us always that we may learn to live by the teachings of your Son. Let us imitate his deeds and be guided by his words. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
