We Too, Will Be Persecuted

08 July 2011

Today’s Readings: Gn 46:1-7, 28-30 / Mt 10:16-23

REFLECTION
Like the sheep, the disciples would be vulnerable and defenseless as they go about their mission. But they have nothing to fear because they are under the loving care and protection of the Good Shepherd. Jesus knows that in time his disciples would face persecution because of their loyalty to him. But instead of dreading this moment, the disciples are to welcome these as opportunities for bearing witness to Christ. They need not even worry about what to say. God’s spirit will speak through them and from their mouths will flow words that proclaim and defend the faith.

In today’s Gospel, Jesus assures us that if we endure suffering at such moment we will enjoy salvation in the end. He promised that with faith in him, w can be fearless witnesses in today’s world. While trying to share his teachings with others we will be able to cope with opposition, failure and even criticisms.

PRAYER
Loving Father, give us the grace to face and embrace all forms of contradictions as we share your blessings to others. Let us always be anchored to you.

In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Who We Are

Communication Foundation for Asia is a pioneer in development communication. It was established in 1968 as a non-stock, non-profit organization, but its origins go way back to 1960, when the Social Communications Center was born with the publication of the Philippine Catholic Digest. Both organizations were founded by the Dutch missionary, Fr Cornelio Lagerwey, MSC, in collaboration with his mission partner Genaro V. Ong.
