We Are Channels Of God’s Love
16 July 2011
Today’s Readings: Ex 12:37-42 / Mt 12:14-21
REFLECTION
Jesus does not disapprove of Mary’s passionate feelings and actions. He understands her human emotions but her familiar gesture of taking possession of her beloved Master is no longer appropriate. Jesus is the Risen One and though he lets himself be seen by his disciples for a few days, he is in the glory of the Father.
In today’s Gospel, Jesus greatest desire is revealed to us. He came from God and must return to God. He loves the world and gives his life for us as proof of this love. This too is the manifestation of his love for the Father who sent his only Son to save all of us.
By sending the Spirit they continue to guide us. Jesus challenges us to be channels for God’s love to our brothers and sisters in need.
PRAYER
Loving Father, make us channels of your love to our brothers and sisters- whenever and wherever they are – in response to your call.
In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
