Last September 22-23, CFA    launched Hapag Kalinaw, a 2-day workshop and round table discussion where people with different advocacies but with a common goal talked, argued and came to terms as equals. After the workshop the student participants came up with a sustainable peace program.

The discussants were able to voice out their respective sides regarding the peace issue in the Philippines. It was one of the rare instances when prominent personalities in the peace efforts were able to dialogue side by side and with our youth learning from them. The speakers gave their opinions on different questions and talking points that range from raising peace-loving children to the empowerment of the youth.

After the lively exchange of views, the students posed different questions to the discussants. Among the questions raised by students are “How can we achieve peace aside from talking about peace efforts?” and “How can the youth take action to achieve peace if the current youth feels superior to the previous generation?”

After the discussion the student participants were tasked to write a sustainable peace program that will be submitted to the respective offices working for peace including, the Office of the President, the Government Peace Panel and the Muslim counterparts.

Who We Are

Communication Foundation for Asia is a pioneer in development communication. It was established in 1968 as a non-stock, non-profit organization, but its origins go way back to 1960, when the Social Communications Center was born with the publication of the Philippine Catholic Digest. Both organizations were founded by the Dutch missionary, Fr Cornelio Lagerwey, MSC, in collaboration with his mission partner Genaro V. Ong.
