Growing From the Roots: The Inauguration of Bokashi Eco center and unveiling of Bokashi 2.0 project

8th August 2019

In line with the celebration of World Environment Day & Philippine Environment Month, Communication Foundation for Asia inaugurated the Bokashi Eco Center and relaunched the Bokashi 2.0 project last June 7, 2019.

Communication Foundation for Asia celebrated the World Environment Day & Philippine Environment Month through the inauguration of its newly-built Bokashi Eco center last June 7, 2019. Along with the unveiling of the new center, CFA took this as an opportunity to officially introduce the Bokashi 2.0 project. A total of 40 participants from different environmental groups, private institutions, students of Tondo Youth Association, MSC Philippines Mission Office, local government units in Manila, members of Agricultural Training Institute and representatives of Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) gathered to witness the ribbon-cutting ceremony and a seminar about the Bokashi project.

In this event, they discovered about the notable accomplishments and remarkable results of the Bokashi project as the flagship initiative of CFA for the environment. During the relaunching, products and items made out of waste materials were also showcased. Since the environmental initiative started in February 2018, CFA has been advocating the practice of Bokashi composting to schools, organizations, and to urban and provincial areas in order to address the issue on waste management.

With this improved project, Bokashi 2.0 will not only promote composting but also other environmental practices such as upcycling, creating ecobricks, sustainable agriculture, and energy conservation.
