CFA Symposium Celebrates International Mother Language Day

In commemoration of International Mother Language Day 2014, the Communication Foundation for Asia (CFA) and other education stakeholders held a symposium on February 21, 2014 at Lagerwey Hall. The activity focused on “Multiculturalism in the Early Years and K-12 Education in the Philippines”. The occasion was graced by His Excellency Major General John Gomes, PSC (Retd.) Bangladesh Ambassador to the Philippines. He talked about how a campaign for the use of their mother language eventually led to their country’s independence.

Other featured resources speakers included House of Representatives Deputy Majority Leader Magtanggol “Magi” T. Gunigundo, Dr. Zenaida T. Domingo of the Early Childhood Care and Development Council, and Dr. Arsenio T. Manalo of the Department of Education, NCR. The symposium was attended by about 150 students and professors, mostly from the University of the Philippines, Diliman and the Polytechnic University of the Philippines.
