Peace Trip Reaches Luzon Schools

Mar 30th 2011

The travelling exhibit of CFA’s 2009 Peace Camp for Christian and Muslim high school students went back on the road for another series of video forums in Luzon, reaching a total of almost 3,000 students and teachers. The lively peace forums took place in southern and northern Luzon within a period of three weeks from mid-February to early March 2011. (See Peace Trip Trail:

On February 16th, CFA’s facilitating team led by Ms. Bob Lopez, the Training Department Head, conducted a series of five video forums for high school and college students of Colegio de San Juan de Letran in Calamba, Laguna. The forums featured the documentary Peace Trip, the video chronicle of the peace camp held in CFA in the summer of 2009. After each video presentation, the participants were asked to discuss their impressions of the peace camp and their commitments to peace based on the video and exhibit. The next day brought the team to St. Gregory Academy in Indang, Cavite to reach a total of about 900 students from various schools in the Diocese of Imus.

Two weeks after the trip to Southern Luzon, the team headed north to the Ilocos Region and then to Pampanga from February 28 to March 3, 2011. The first stop was the Holy Spirit School of Laoag where 200 junior and senior high school students joined the forum held on March 1st. The next day, the team proceeded to Benito Soliven Academy in Vigan where high school classes viewed the exhibit and participated in discussions on peace. In the afternoon, the exhibit was received by 700 students of St. Paul’s College-Vigan. The team then traveled southward to Central Luzon, where they held a video forum in Angeles University Foundation. Some 350 college students actively participated in the forum there.

The Peace Trip traveling exhibit is part of the peace project “Christian and Muslim Youth: Spreading the Message of Peace and Unity” which showcases the video documentary, journal entries, photographs and paintings of the participants of the peace camp held in CFA, Sta. Mesa on April 27-May 2, 2009. This was the second peace camp organized by CFA since 2006, with the support of Evangelischer Entwicklungsdienst (EED – Church Development Service).
