National Youth Songwriting Contest Launched

July 15th 2009

C FA has announced the rules and launch of its first National Youth Songwriting Contest called “Awit ng Mga Bagong Bida”. The final contest winners are expected to be announced at a concert during the Bidahan II Youth Conference being organized mainly by the Catholic Educational Association of the Philippines, to be held later this year. CEAP and its Bidahan Youth Summit are partners in CFA’s Songwriting Contest, along with Simbahang Lingkod ng Bayan (SLB) and the Catholic Media Network (CMN).

The contest is part of CFA’s new citizenship education project entitled “Engaging the Youth in the Campaign for Good Governance”, which is supported by Misereor. One of the aims of the contest is to use music, which has popular appeal for the youth, as a medium for advocacy.
