CFA Gears Up for Film and Faith 3

JAN 6TH 2009

The Communication Foundation for Asia is making its final preparations for its upcoming Film and Faith Seminar Series 3 with Fr. Peter Malone, MSC, on the theme: “Search for God in Films”, slated on the weekend of January 17-19, 2009. Following the seminar is a very special first-time offering – a Film Festival of award-winning Signis films, running from January 19 to 24, 2009. Both events will be held at the CFA Auditorium at 4427 Old Sta. Mesa Road, Sta. Mesa, Manila.

During the three days of the seminar, the presentations and discussions will focus on:

The search for God through the representation of nuns and priests on the screen (including perspectives as institution,
as sacrament, as servant, prophet, etc);
The search for God in films that are not explicitly religious (including looking for and losing God; looking for the divine in humans; film satire on God)
Angels and devils on screen and the search for God (imagining heaven and hell; confronting evil)

The Filmfest will feature films from Mongolia, Iran, Bangladesh and other countries. The film screenings are at 3pm and 6:30pm from January 19-24, with an additional screening at 1:00 in the afternoon of January 24th.
