More Training for Diocesan Media Directors at CFA

Mar 8th 2007

The year 2007 will mark the second phase of the Diocesan Media Directors Training (DMDT) Series, a string of media workshops offered by CFA to media directors of Catholic dioceses all over the country. Over a hundred media directors and pastoral workers benefited from the first series in 2006, which totaled seven different workshops on media production.

The DMDT Series is made possible by a grant from Aid to the Church in Need (ACN). CFA implements this training program in partnership with the Commission on Social Communications and Mass Media headed by Bishop Bernardino C. Cortez. It is intended for the training of media directors, not only in terms of communication skills but more importantly on their roles and the present challenges of evangelization through media. A core curriculum, which is a standard opening of each course, also provides knowledge and insight on media literacy, media ethics and communication rights to the participants.

As in the first series, the Training Department conducts a survey to assess the media needs and preferences of dioceses and their heads relative to their context. Lined up for this year’s second round of 4- to 5-day live-in workshops are Video Production, Web Design, Community Radio, Linux (Free Open Source Software), Community Publications, Flash Animation and the Use of Film for Values Education. The series is set to begin in June.
