CMMA Honors CFA Publications and Writers

NOV 30TH 2006

CFA received nominations in four categories during the last Catholic Mass Media Awards and bagged three wins. Barkada Magazine brought home the award as 2006 Best Youth Magazine, “Ang Pinakamagandang Obra” by Rowena Angeles emerged as Best Short Story and “Mabait Ka Ba?” by Nick Melgar won as Best Comic Strip.

Barkada’s winning entry was the February-March 2006 issue. Coinciding with the love month, it featured stories of unconditional love, sacrifice and Christ’s cross, the ultimate expression of love. Meanwhile, Angeles has just won two consecutive Best Short Story awards, having also won in the same category last year. Her piece, “Ang Pinakamagandang Obra,” is a story of a little girl whose father is a lowly painter of cinema billboards and tells of the love that lived between them. It was published in Pambata Magazine January 2006. Nick Melgar’s light satire of parents being models to their children was an award-winning 3-frame strip, which came out in Gospel Komiks February-March 2006 issue.

CFA’s tradition of outstanding media production has been consistently recognized by CMMA. Other CFA comics, magazines, books and stories, as well as radio dramas and video productions, have previously won awards from CMMA.
