PAGLINANG 2014 to tackle K-12 Curriculum, Early Years Act, and the Kindergarten Education Act

Communication Foundation for Asia (CFA), together with the Educational Resources on Multilingualism and Multiculturalism for All Teachers (ERMMAT), and the University of the Philippines College of Education (UPCED), will host a Series of Training-Workshops on the K-12 Curriculum, Early Years Act, and the Kindergarten Education Act under the Mother Tongue Based-Multilingual Education (MTB-MLE) Framework. Experts on MTB-MLE from University of the Philippines, Diliman and De La Salle University, Manila will serve as resource persons.

Dubbed Paglinang 2014, the training-workshop series will present ways to develop learning materials from Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 3 in all learning areas, namely: Language Arts, Science and Health, Mathematics and Araling Panlipunan, integrated with Values Education, Music, Arts and Physical Education.

The goals of the training-workshop are: a) to produce and/or refine prototype learning materials, teachers need to implement the first language (L1)-based curriculum in the early years, kindergarten and the early grades; b) to clarify prevalent misconceptions among educators about K-12/MTB-MLE and equip them with the corresponding teaching strategies and methodologies for effective instruction; and c) to serve as a forum for stakeholders to share, exchange and sum up their experiences in implementing the new MTB-MLE policy and curricula.

The series of training-workshops consist of three (3) waves scheduled as follows at the Communication Foundation for Asia, 4427 Old Sta. Mesa, Manila:
