Songwriting and MTV Contest Ends in a Joyous Concert

Mar 12th 2014

CFA recently concluded the Awit ng mga Bagong Bida 2 Songwriting and Music Video Making Contest last March 7, 2014 at the CFA grounds with an event dubbed “Nasa V-Zone Ka Na Ba?”

Moonstar88 with the Bagong BIDAs

The concert, which served as the awarding ceremony of the contest, featured Paolo Santos, Jett Pangan, and Moonstar88. It paid tribute to outstanding MTV compositions, including: BANGON PILIPINO of Manresa School, Paranaque (First Place), BAGONG KABANATA of Mary Help of Christians School, Cebu (Second Place) and ENGAGED CITIZEN SLATE of St. Scholastica’s College, Manila (Third Place).

But more than just being a concert “Nasa V-Zone Ka Na Ba?” was a venue to exercise engaged citizenship. CFA brought together youth delegates from schools, neighboring barangays and church groups to meet advocacy groups engaged in community service. CFA believes that engagement begins with the desire to step outside oneself to serve others in need.

YouthPinoy with new Volunteers

Among the partner advocacy groups present that night were Youth for Sustainable Development (YSDA), Philippine Red Cross, Youth Pinoy, Hands on Manila, U! Happy Events, Educational Research Development Assistance Foundation (ERDA) and the National Commission on Culture and Arts (NCCA). Messages on the youth and volunteerism were delivered by Ms. Ginny Rodriguez of the Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV), Laura Katigbak, a student leader of the University of the Philippines, and Fr. Ben Alforque, MSC, CFA’s Director for Training and CRC.

The replay of the concert is uploaded on CFA Gospel TV Ustream account. Click here to watch.
