KABAHAGI: A Celebration of Youth Empowerment

“The highest destiny of the individual is to serve rather than to rule.” – Albert Einstein

The Communication Foundation for Asia (CFA) works on the idea that the Filipino youth can profoundly transform themselves, their families, and their communities through the combination of their creative talents and skills. The foundation, staying true to its promise of citizen capacity-building, stirred the unwoven potential of the youth to thread their stories while empowering their skills and creativity.

Having the goal of honing the potential of the youth. The Communication Foundation for Asia (CFA) launched a number of empowered programs with the goal of demonstrating the youth’s ability to demand government accountability to citizens and to live in harmony with the government.

Starting with the KAbataang, MAlikhain, at DAlubhasa (KAMADA) 2022: Tugon sa Batingaw, an online competition intended to offer a platform for actively sharing messages with causes of justice and political community. It provides an opportunity for showcasing the diverse artistry and creativity of Filipino youths, ages 15 to 21, through the visual arts, dance, and video.

Speaking of creative expressions, for the first time in years of online activities, CFA conducted its first face-to-face seminar-workshop for KABAHAGI 2022 with the 17 Tondo Youth Association (TYA) Scholars. The participants were imparted knowledge on Catholic Social Teachings, communication for advocacy, and community engagement with the goal of empowering their will to volunteer, organize, and find their voices to narrate their own advocacy based on the Catholic Social Teachings. Participants learned how to express their advocacies through music, podcasts, photography, and more.

KABAHAGI 2022, apart from creative expressions, serves to provide an avenue to equip the skills of the youth to share their views on present-day relevant issues through an Internship Program. The program, which was launched in three batches of interns, aims to utilize different communication tools to create dialogue and encounters between one youth to another.
